A brief interlude

My hiatus from this site was unexpected, but should be over soon. In the meantime, you can read my hockey writing over at Litter Box Cats.

New site, random things

Welcome to the new site. I spent most of Thursday night attempting to import the contents of the old Blogger site, which I finally managed to do successfully after downgrading to the previous version of the Wordpress import module. There is no direct import tool, so I had to export the old posts, convert to a Wordpress file and then import. So, everything that was there is now here.

I have not touched the RPM Challenge project for two days now, owing to work on this and some major housecleaning projects. I also mounted our new television to the fake fireplace that comprises one wall of our living room, so now it will no longer block the fake fireplace opening. It looks pretty sharp and will be even better once I hide the cables.

New Digs

I've installed a new template here. The previous one was an emergency substitution for the original template, which wasn't working with my imported flickr photos. I like this one a lot better. I'm still tweaking it. For the moment, the above "recent posts" photo menu does not work, and anything in Spanish is a dead link. I'm also going through all of my posts and adding tags. I'm also going to import all of the posts from my previous page (John's Weblog of Doom). I'll be slowly working through it all and everything should be working by Monday.

Attack of the brain, umm, eater things

As is inevitable, I have fallen behind in posting. Work stress has hit real life stress and the result isn't pretty. My brain has decided it doesn't want to work properly all the time. Last night, I drove to the wrong cinema. Luckily, it wasn't too far from the proper one and we made it to the film (Coraline, very good) during the previews. I have also been unable to get it together to make a bunch of posts that I want to. Who knew that keeping peoples' spirits up took so much out of a person. But there you are, then.

Taipei 101

Statue of LG

Once our group was complete, we visited Taipei 101, for the moment the tallest building in the world. Across the street is a poncy shopping center called New York, New York that's full of American chain stores (and MUJI). There's a ice cream eating statue of liberty out front.

Still posting... slowly

I'm not even close to finishing the Taiwan Chronicles and we're preparing to leave. Again. I'm still uploading pictures, but I haven't posted them up here for a while. So, if you want to see photos as they go up, I would suggest looking here. I will eventually post them all up here with more text than what's on flickr. But they'll be there first.

A few notes

I switched templates. Not the best, but it will have to do now. I finally got fed up with the tiny column size of the old one. The size wasn't working with posting pictures from flickr, so it goes. This is only a temporary replacement. I will redesign the page at some point.

Back home; more coming

I've been back for a week now, and I've been really busy. I bought a new scanner over the last weekend because the old one just wasn't cutting it. The new one does a much better job with film and will take medium format negatives as well. I've been scanning like crazy and have four rolls from the trip done. There's no game tonight (Game 4 tomorrow), and Liz won't be home, so I will start posting stuff tonight. Once I finish there, I will probably re-start the California trip stuff.

New Posts Coming

As soon as my Newegg order shows up and I have a microSD card for my phone again and I can therefore offload my Langerado snaps, I will post a Langerado wrap-up. In the meantime, I will be away in Washington at the SEAALL conference hanging with a lot of librarians. I will probably bring the camera, and I may get some shots while I'm there. I still have scans from the October trip to post. April will have to be a clearinghouse, as I want everything done before we go to Budapest in May. Because I'll have a whole lot more to post then.

Happy New Year

Well, it's another year. And in the new year will be more posts. No, I haven't forgotten about the rest of those California trip pictures. Things have just been a little crazy since mid-November, what with all the family medical emergencies. So, hopefully things will settle down now, what with the holidays over and all. I should have the next roll from the trip up this week (it's already scanned).
